Raymond Earl Tanner Jr.

Raymond Earl Tanner Jr., age 66, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023. Anyone who met Raymond loved him. He had such a sweet disposition. Being a believer in Christ, he devoted his time in part as a greeter at the Homewood Church of Christ for many years. You would find him at church at least one hour before services would start. He loved his church family, and they loved him.

Raymond was very partial to sweet tea and Reese's peanut butter cups, and would enjoy them while watching football games on tv. It can be said that he was a big Alabama Football fan, and would show his support for his favorite team each game he watched. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles among other things.

Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond E. Tanner Sr and Annie J. Hodges. And his Uncle and Aunt, Robert N. Hodges and Jean H. Hodges who basically raised Raymond. Mr. Tanner is survived by his best friend Doug White and all of his church family at Homewood Church of Christ.

There will be a Visitation at the Homewood Church of Christ on Thursday, January 11, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will follow the Visitation at Homewood Church Of Christ with a committal at Forest Hill Cemetery.
