Robert V Barnett

Dr. Robert V. Barnett, 92 of Birmingham, AL. passed away November 26, 2018. He was a native of Camden, AL. After graduation from Tulane Medical School, he began his private practice as an OB/GYN in Birmingham, where he was also a professor at UAB Medical School, while there he received the Dido award for outstanding teacher. During his career, he was on staff at Baptist Monclair and Brookwood Baptist hospitals. Upon retiring, he enjoyed growing roses, beekeeping and genealogy research. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank M. Barnett Sr. and Virginia S. Barnett; brother James Barnett; wife Alice A. Barnett; daughters Susan and Laura Barnett; grandson Robert C. Barnett. He is survived by his children Laird Barnett (Lynne), Jenny Williams (Buddy), Scott Barnett (Jennie); brother Frank M. Barnett Jr.; grandchildren Claire vanDrimmelen, Laura Austill, Alex Barnett, Mike Williams, Emily Taylor, Robert Williams, Zach Barnett, Halle Barnett, and five great grandchildren. We would like to thank the staff at St. Martin's in the Pines for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Brooke Baptist Church or you favorite Charity.

Graveside services will be Friday November 30, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Elmwood Cemetery.
