

Mrs. Pantazis was born in Rome, Ga., and raised in Birmingham, Al. A daughter of immigrants, she was married to Mr. George Pantazis for 55 years. She was a life long member of the Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She was also a proud member of Philoptochos (literally, “friend of the poor”), the Greek Orthodox ladies philanthropy organization dedicated to serving those in need.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cooley Derzis, mother, Stella Boulgaris, step-father, Dennis Boulgaris, brothers, John Derzis, Cooley Derzis, and Tony Boulgaris, and sons, Dino Pantazis and Gus Pantazis. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Cary Pantazis and his wife, Ellen, Mr. Dennis Pantazis and his wife, Libby, daughter-in-law Mrs. Dee Harrell, grandchildren, Dr. Alethia Brown and her husband, Tom, Miss Katina Pantazis, Mr. George Pantazis and his wife, Amanda, Mr. Patrick Pantazis, Miss Allison Harrell, Mr. D.G. Pantazis, Mr. Lee Pantazis, Mr. Evan Pantazis, and great granddaughter, Sienna Brown.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral with burial to follow at Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2012 from 5:30 until 7:00 PM at the church. A Trisagion Service will follow at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc. Johns-Ridout’s Funeral Home Southside Chapel, directing.
