Daren William Drake

Daren was born on January 17, 1960 in Blairmore, AB to Robert and Elaine Drake. Here he remained most of his lifetime. He met his soul mate Jo Ann and were married on February 18, 1984. Daren worked as a tie-in foreman for the pipeline industry for 26 years and also owned and operated the Polaris dealership in Frank for the past 8 months. Daren was also a member of the Local 955, International Union of Operating Engineers, the Local 244, United Association of Plumbers and Pipe fitters as well as a member of the Crow Snow Riders.

Daren was a kind, loving and gentle man, father, husband, brother and son who had a heart of gold. He was very generous and benevolent. If anyone was in need of help or just lending an ear to listen, Daren was there. He was extremely hard working. Once he set his mind to something, Daren always gave 100% to accomplish whatever he set out to do. But most important was his family. His life was his son, Garet and his love was Jo Ann. Daren was very proud of his son and the accomplishments that he made in school and playing sports. In his spare time, Daren loved to snowmobile, fish, go quading, motorcycling and had a great passion for flying. Even though Daren is now gone from our lives he will forever remain in our hearts and in the minds of all who knew and loved him.

Left to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life is his loving wife, Jo Ann Drake of Bellevue; his precious son, Garet Drake of Bellevue; his mother, Elaine Drake of Bellevue; his brothers, Randal (Josie) Drake of Anntaganish, Nova Scotia, Loren (Susan) Drake of Calgary and Michael (Cindy) Drake of Lundbreck; his nieces and nephews; Christopher, Justin, Jessica, Adam, Melissa, Jenna, Megan, Brian and Ashley; his mother and father in law, Kurt and Josephine Graf of Coleman and the many friends that he made throughout his lifetime.

Daren was predeceased by his father, Robert Lloyd Drake on June 16, 1999.

Funeral Services were held at the Albert Stella Memorial Arena, (12602 – 17th Ave.) Blairmore on Monday, March 31, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Robinson officiating. Interment followed in the Blairmore Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Daren Brunns, Barrett Hammer, David Dingreville, Tyler Dingreville, Doug Cox, Doug Fairbourne, Allan Sawatsky and Corey Cowley. Honorary Pallbearers were Loren Drake, Mike Drake, Randy Drake, Joe Trotz, Brent Kenny, Terry Kenny, Duane Reimer, Joey Wasweik, Claude Legrouix, Mike Pratchler, Darren Farrens and Kenny Windsor.

Donations in memory of the late Daren Drake will be gratefully accepted towards the Crowsnest Pass Rescue Squad, Box 707, Blairmore, AB T0K 0E0.
