Mr. DeSantis was born in Newark, lived many years in Belleville before moving to Manasquan 2 years ago.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army. He was the co-owner and pharmacist for L & S Drug Stores in Belleville and Newark for 55 years. He and his family were members of the Essex Skating Club at Codey Arena at South Mountain in West Orange.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 3-7 pm at the Zarro Funeral Home, (www.zarrofuneralhome.net) 145 Harrison Street, Bloomfield,NJ, Kindly be at the funeral home on Thursday May 22 at 9:15 am following a mass at 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Belleville. The burial will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s name to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., P O Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057-0007.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Loretta (Spagnoletti) DeSantis; devoted children, Daniel and his wife, June, Maryjo Dixon and her husband, Keith and Paul DeSantis; dear sisters, Gloria Valvano and Diana Capra; cherished grandchildren, Danielle, Steven, Brian and Allison. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosanna (Di Gabriele) and Daniel De Santis, and a sister, Clara Foschino.
