George A. Baker

George A. Baker, 86, of Jacksonville, Fl. formerly a resident of Wayne, N.J. passed away Wednesday March 20, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones. George was born on August 17, 1932, in Paterson, N.J. to his parents, Michael and Afifa (Nassimos) Baker. He was a loving Husband, Father, Giddo, Great Giddo and friend who will be sorely missed. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris (Lurachy) Baker, his beloved son George M. Baker, Grandson Michael Baker, Sisters: Margaret (Charles) Gerro, Helen (Eddie) Hajjar , Julia (Harris) Casab, Alice Baker, Brothers: Samuel Baker and Albert (Anna May) Baker. He leaves joyful memories to his surviving children: Maryann (Anthony) Brown, Cathy (Stephen) Suss, Samuel Baker; His cherished Grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Nicole, Morgan, Anthony, Patrick, Taylor, Thomas, Joshua, Great Granddaughter Emma, Sister-in-law Arlene Baker and many more extended family and friends. George was a very outgoing person and made lifelong friends in every phase of his life. He served in the Army, sold insurance, owned and ran a successful deli (C&D) in Belleville, N.J., his last place of employment was with the County of Passaic for about 20 years until her retired and moved to Jacksonville, FL. George loved to play bingo and cards but His favorite enjoyment was cooking, eating and shopping (on QVC). The viewing will be held at Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St, Bloomfield N.J. 07003 on Tuesday, March 26th from 5-9 pm. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday March 27th 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 802 Rifle Camp Rd, Woodland Park N.J. 07424 followed by a committal service at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 52 Totowa Rd, Totowa, N.J. 07512. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St Jude’s Children s Hospital, one of George’s favorite charities.
