Lee Galioto (née Malanga) 80, of Springfield passed away on September 17th 2018. Lee was born in Newark and raised in East Orange. she graduated East Orange High School and married. Lee was a devoted mother, she raised 3 children, Lisa, Lori & Michael in East Orange and Irvington. She was a homemaker for the early years, and a single parent most of her life. She graduated from Katherine Gibbs School NYC. Lee worked as an executive secretary for Lincoln Savings Bank, Dreyfus Bank , Lumbermans Mortgage Co. and after retiring worked part-time at The YMCA of Springfield NJ. She was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle, Irvington , Immaculate Heart of Mary, Maplewood, and lastly St James in Springfield, and served with the Eucharistic adoration at Our Lady of the Lourdes in Mountainside until recently.
Lee was a simple woman and loved spending time with family and her dear lifelong friends.
Also she treasured her relationships with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to places like Spring Lake, NJ , Hilton Head Island , SC and road trips by car. Lee was full of faith in God and prayed for everyone and peace.Lee is survived by her loving children, Lisa Ortiz, Lori Mullins and Michael Galioto and his wife, Josephine; dear sisters, Marie Hrustic and Jeanne Passmore; cherished grandchildren, Lauren and Kristen Mullins, and Gianna and Michael Galioto Jr. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary (Veneziano) and Frank Malanga, and brother, Anthony Malanga.
Funeral services will be conducted by Zarro Funeral Home, (www.zarrofuneralhome.net), 145 Harrison St., Bloomfield. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 20th, from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Kindly be at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 21st by 10:30 am for a short service prior to a mass at 12 noon at St. James RC Church, Springfield, NJ. The cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
