MATILDE”MACO” HERNANDEZ, 90, of Newark NJ gained his wings and joined the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at University Hospital, in Newark NJ. He was born in Moca, Puerto Rico and came to the U.S. in 1962. He loved to smoke cigars, cook and spend time in his flower vegetable garden or watching his favorite “METS” baseball team in his comfy recliner with his warm blanket. Matilde was a very humble and very loving man with few words who would do anything for his family. He was born to the late Anastasia Gonzalez and Felix Hernandez. Matilde was the beloved husband of Gracia Maria Arocho Hernandez for 51 years and devoted father of Maria, John, and Alberto Hernandez along with three older sons and three older daughters. Loving grandfather of Jesus Velez, John Kevin, Christopher, Emali, Caleb, Gianny, Kaila, Kaitlyn, Kiara, Katheryn, Wilfredo, Claribel, Melizza, Tamika and many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation Services will be held Sunday March 3, 2019 from 3pm to 7pm at the Zarro Funeral Home, (www.zarrofuneralhome.net) located at 145 Harrison St. Bloomfield, NJ. Burial services will be on Monday March 4, 2019 at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by the Mass at 10:30am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Newark, NJ. The interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
