Ross Douglas Stewart, 75, of Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville. Ross is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Stewart of Falls Church, VA and his twin brother Stanley Stewart of Manassas, VA.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Stewart his wife Misty, and their 5 children; his stepson, Bobby Burnett Lee, his wife Belinda, and their daughter. He is also survived by his sister Dianne Cameron and her husband Bob; sister Sharon Basra and her husband Amarjeet; and his devoted and loving friend Myra King.
Ross found great joy in his role as father and grandfather. Highly competitive, he could always be counted on to play any card, board, or even video game. He was a thrill-seeker, riding roller coasters and even skydiving well into his 60s. He was a Purple Heart Recipient, and served in the US Army as a medic in the Vietnam War.
Ross was an active member of the local community. He revitalized the local VFW Chapter by bringing people together, earning his post numerous accomplishments and rising to the rank of Commander – District 1, New Jersey. As a member of United Presbyterian Church-Paterson, he was a deacon, honored to serve his congregation.
Arrangements by the Zarro Funeral Home,145 Harrison St. Bloomfield NJ (www.zarrofuneralhome.net). The visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 22 at 11 am followed by a VFW Service at 11:30 am. A graveside service to be held at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA on Monday, January 27th at 1:00pm.
