Alex Gonzales, Husband, Father, Brother, Tata and Great Tata was born January 31, 1937 in Hermosillo, Mexico. Alex, the youngest of seven, lost his Father when he was 9 months old. A few years later, with the help of Alex's older brother's, his mother relocated their family to "Logan Heights" San Diego, California. San Diego is where Alex met the Love of his Life, Josephine Solis. Alex married Josephine on October 26, 1957 in San Diego and began creating his beautiful family. Together, they built and maintained a strong foundation filled with love for 55 years. As a result, we have grown into a large loving family bonded by wonderful memories. Alex was fortunate to have traveled the world. Anyone who knew him, has heard his stories of when he was a Commercial Fisherman. When Alex was around 17 years old, he began working as a Commercial Fisherman out of the Ports of San Diego. He would travel three months at a time on Tuna Boats from Southern California into South America. After his travels throughout the Pacific Ocean, Alex worked as a Long Shore man and at the same time took a couple correspondence courses in small appliances. By 1962, he was a father of three children (Dora, Barbara and Alex), and decided to change his career in order to spend more time with his wife and children at home. Alex obtained a janitorial position at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, with the help from his sister Cora. Alex was a hard worker full of ambition to succeed in everything he tried to do. He wanted more for his family, so he began to further his education to prepare himself for career advancement. Alex studied refrigeration and electrical work and eventually obtained his Steam Engineer License. Because of his hard work, education and training, Alex was promoted to Engineer III in Plant Services. While working at Kaiser, his family grew with the addition of their fourth child, Corrina. Alex retired from Kaiser Hospital in 2003, as the Head Engineer after 45 years of service. Alex was a great provider who always made his wife happy. He was a loving Husband, Father, Tata and Great Tata. he was very affectionate with all of his family especially the girls and always a little tougher on the boys! (if you ask them..."a lot tougher"). Alex was a do-it-yourself kind of man. If he didn't know how to do something, he would figure it out one way or another. Alex's personality was far from shy, he talked to everyone whether he knew you for years or a couple of seconds and always made an impact on their lives. He loved to give advice, as he KNEW IT ALL! He touched so many people's lifes, even complete strangers! Alex was a stubborn man at times, you never wanted to get into a debate with him, because as we know, Alex was NEVER wrong. Alex will be missed by his family and friends. The memories we have of him will give us wisdom, strength and guidance in our lifes. it will bring us comfort to know that he is now resting in heaven in the arms of his mother, who he loved, adored, honored and respected. Alex Gonzales is survived by his wife, Josephine, his daughters Dora, Barbara and Corrina, his son Alex, his sister Cora, his brothers Herb and Charles, his 13 Grandchildren and his 22 Great-Grandchildren
