Also predeceased by her husband, Billy J. and son Robin E. Pickens. Surviving family includes her children, Michael W. Pickens (Linnea), Cynthia A Pickens Brackett, Wm. Richard Pickens (Deborah), her 9 grandchildren, Michael L., Anthony, Jennifer, Christina (Jimmy), Wm. Patrick, Ashley, Nolan, Bridgett, Alexis, Rylan, Jimmy and Jason.
Our Mom, Gay Pickens was a very strong and independent person. During this time of COVID isolation, her church closed to in-person worship but she still was on the prayer chain and mailed birthday and anniversary cards to the congregation. Anyone that knew her knew that she had a strong relationship with GOD. She collected anything with a frog on it. FROG was the motto she lived by. Fully Rely On GOD. She did, always.
She loved to swim. Any time the pool was open and Valerie the swim instructor was there, so was Gay. Rain, shine and all seasons. For Christmas, Gay would make up to 50 handmade ornaments (usually filled with candy) to give to all her friends and family so everyone would know that she was thinking of them. Our Mom was a great role model for this family. She was strong in body, heart and spirit. She will be sorely missed.
If you wish, in lieu of flowers, you can send a “in memory of” gift to the foundation of Cystic Fibrosis. Memorial services to be on October 21, 2022 starting at 11:30am, and will stream live on Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, Bloomington, CA’s Facebook page.
