Cathy was born to Braulio and Antonia DeLaTorre on February 27, 1944 in Xacatecas, Mexico. She migrated to California with her family through the Green Card process and prided herself on becoming a Naturalized US Citizen. She was adamant about learning the English language despite her heavy Spanish Accent because “If you want to live in America you should speak the language spoken.”
On September 3, 1967, Cathy married Jorge R. Baeza. Together they made Colton, CA their permanent residence and became the parents of their pride and joy—their four daughters. Kimmie, Kathleen, Naomi, and Amy would often argue about who was the favorite daughter--but for the record, it was who their daughters gave to them, GRANDBABIES.
Cathy was “Grandma,” “Nana,” and “Ita” to eleven grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Ian, Keifer, Shelsea, Kiaya, Kolby, Murie, Karsen, Lauren, Jacob, Jonah, and Zoey had a special place in her heart and in her arms.
Cathy’s greatest accomplishment was what her husband referred to as, “Domestic Goddess”. She was her daughters’ stay-at -home mom who made sure that a delicious homecooked meal was waiting for her children when they returned from school and kept busy with all their extra-curricular activities through the years. She was also her husband’s business partner as they opened their Printing and Photography business, FotoGraphics. To her family and friends, she was there to provide a warm meal, an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on. What they might not have known was that she was a Prayer Warrior and if you stopped by her home, you became a part of her Prayer List. She was a firm believer of Intercessory Prayer and if you are reading this…. chances are--she prayed for YOU!
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Braulio and Antonia DeLaTorre and her husband, Jorge R. Baeza. She is survived by her four daughters and their husbands: Kimmie and Tim Holloway, Kathleen and Ray Castro, Naomi and Warren Beem, and Amy and Gilbert Reyes, her eleven grandbabies: Karsen & Lauren Holloway; Ian Baeza, Shelsea Nuñez, Murie Casillas, Jacob Castro; Keifer, Kiaya, & Kolby and Sierra (née Hall) Beem; and Jonah & Zoey Reyes.
Cathy was a lively, loving woman with a feisty and stubborn spirit at times. Because she loved her children, her feisty and stubbornness served her well when she was diagnosed with Stage Four Breast Cancer. She put up a fight and endured a year of chemotherapy and when her stubbornness began to wane, she received amazing results about a dramatic decrease of the cancer. Her fight was back! She was excited to begin her travel plans to attend her grandson’s wedding and beach vacation. Little did she know that the cancer moved to her brain. Cancer may have taken the physical life of Cathy, but because she loved Jesus and gave her life to Him, her spirit lives with Him. Today she rests peacefully until Jesus returns to gather her and her fellow believers…, ”For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.” I Thessalonians 4:16-17
