Charles Frank Russell (“Chick”), 71 years-old of Yucaipa, CA passed on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Kaiser Ontario hospital after a long battle with Mesothelioma.
Born in San Bernardino, CA on May 17, 1951, he was the son of Charles Russell and Antionette Sroka Russell. He was one of eight siblings and is survived by his two sisters, Mildred Baker, and Colleen McLain; and his two brothers, Thomas, and Dennis Russell.
In addition to being a beloved son and brother he was also a loving husband and dedicated father. He is also survived by his wife of 45 years, Sonja Black Russell; his son, daughter-n-law and grandchildren, Charles Justin, Erin, Charles Benjamin, and Paige; and his daughter, Nicole.
Throughout his life Chick worked in the industrial water treatment industry. His experience spanned over five decades and throughout his career he served as a hard-working and dedicated colleague, president, owner, consultant, mentor, and friend to those by his side.
Chick had many interests during his life; from boating, fishing and scuba diving to traveling and golf. Chick loved being on the water. Whether racing a flat bottom boat or deep-sea fishing, jet skiing or simply just cruising; he was always happier there.
Chick also loved kids – and more than just his own. For almost nine years he coached a traveling soccer team and mentored numerous players to improve their skills and become better men. Even after his soccer days were over, he still found himself surrounded by his children and their friends. From camping at Lake Havasu with 12 to 13 teenagers to hosting holidays and parties alongside his wife. Although these activities were a lot of work, Chick always enjoyed his time with friends and family and was up for the challenge of keeping them entertained.
Most of all Chick loved his family and friends and treasured every moment he spent with them. He was so proud of his son and daughter, so blessed by his granddaughter and grandson and so cherished by his close friends and family.
He was an incredibly strong yet gentle man who gave so very much and asked so very little in return.
He was the rock of his family . . . he will be missed, but the memories and his legacy will live on.
