Edwin Delano Sled

Edwin was born January 23, 1941 in Vick, Arkansas to E.D. Sled and Lucy Marie Sled. They moved to Fontana when he was 8 years old and has resided in Fontana since. Edwin graduated from Fontana High School before beginning his career at Kaiser Steel. There he worked as a blacksmith in the Forge and Weld Shop. He moved up to foreman before Kaiser Steel closed. He then took on a management role at Degussa Chemicals traveling the United States/Canada and stayed with them until he decided the traveling was too much. At that time, Edwin returned to doing what he loved, working with his hands, out at California Steel in 1998 where he served as a millwright in the Hot Strip Mill. Ed retired from California Steel in 2013.

Edwin Married Reva June Sled in 1958 and had been happily married for 64 years. Edwin and Reva had 5 children. Edwin D. Sled Jr., James D. Sled, Tammy S. Covarrubias, Terri D. Covarrubias, and Kimberly A. Nagy. Edwin also had 14 Grand Children and 20 Great Grand Children.

Edwin was preceded in death by his sisters Martha L. Synder and Shirley A. Crawford. He is survived by his Wife Reva June Sled; his sons Edwin D. Sled Jr, and James D. Sled; His daughters Tammy S. Covarrubias, Terri D. Covarrubias, and Kimberly A. Nagy; His brothers Jerry B. Sled, Rodney B. Sled, and Greggory L. Sled.

Edwin loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them every chance he had. He instilled in each of his kids his faith and his love for the gospel. He loved whole heartedly and truly will be missed.

Visitation for Edwin will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Funeral service will occur Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

A committal service will occur Thursday, March 24, 2022 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
