Linda Sue Meldrum of Rialto, California was welcomed into humanhood by her parents Lee and Alice Taylor, big brother Sonny, and sister Carol, on February 14, 1951. Yep, she was America’s Valentine baby. (She never wanted anyone to ever forget this). She later welcomed another sister, Flora. Linda gained her angel wings on August 24, 2025. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she enjoyed being Sunnymeads sweetheart. Linda’s love for her family was forever present.
Linda’s adult life found her in love with and marrying a “hot” young man in the Air Force (Steve Patton) who was getting ready to ship out to Vietnam on a refueler, which *surprise* ended in a marriage that produced 3 sons- Thomas, Charles, and Darrell.
As life goes and the marriage cooled, another fella by the name of Steve Meldrum (another beer drinking, tank driving hunk of a Vietnam veteran) began to warm that Valentine’s heart. Steve Meldrum became the love of her life and became the boy’s “dad”. (Hard to explain if you don’t know) Steve and Steve were to become best friends and “husband in laws”.
Linda lived her entire life in Southern California. Linda was always ready for a party. She loved her trips to the river, camping with her siblings, or traveling to see her Washington family which included attending graduations, weddings ect. (She is currently attending or maybe hosting her biggest and bestest party EVER!)
Linda received her education and graduated from Moreno Valley HS 1969, in a little hick place called Sunnymead. After graduation, she worked numerous waitress jobs, until she landed the job she would make her career on August 15, 1977 at Stater Brothers Markets. She worked there until she retired on March 31, 2008.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Alice Maness. Her baby sister Flora, and big brother Sonny. Her husband Steve Meldrum and his “husband in law” Steve Patton. Survivors include her 3 sons, Thomas Patton (Christina), Charles Patton(Cheri), Darrell Patton (Michelle) as well as her sister Carol (Keith) of Prosser Washington.
She has 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Plus nieces, nephews, cousins, second cousins, and cousins once or twice removed etc.
The family would like to thank you for your love and support.
