February 2, 1926 – July 2, 2018
Louis Katsikaris was born February 2, 1926 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Elias and Elearney Katsikaris. He was the youngest of eight children. He passed away in San Antonio Hospital on July 2, 2018 in Upland, California. He was 92.
Louis was a World War II Veteran and after the war attended college for two years. During that period he married his wife Annie Komi on December 24, 1946 in Royalston, Massachusetts. He next worked as a furniture maker for a few years during which he was chairman of the union and became a lifetime democrat. In 1956 the family move to Fontana, California and Louis became an Ironworker. He retired from Ironworking and in 1978 Louis and son Mark purchased Interstate Battery distributorship which they still own.
Both Louis's parent had died by the time he was four years old. He became a ward of the state and was later cared for by an English lady he called Aunt May. This experience left a desire to help children and Louis certainly did that through the Free Methodist Church. Louis and the family became acquainted with the Free Methodist Church while he was building his house in the early 1960's. The Fontana Church was in walking distance of the house being built and this new house was only a block from where the family lived. Annie and sons walked to church on Sunday's while Louis worked on the house. It was during this time that Louis started attending church and became a Christian.
Louis was quite strict in bringing up his children but everything was fine as long as they did whatever he said. Where this strictness came from was never determined as he was never really had a father or mother to learn from and he also said Aunt May would just baby him all the time.
Louis leaves three sons, Tim, Mark, and Louis Jr., seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister Helen, and many nephews and nieces.
