Cousin Lou & Jane and my wife Gerry and I began our friendship after his parents, Aunt Bess and Uncle Louis passed.  Louis had already moved to California before we were married and had children.  A friendship with Lou's parents began when our two children were approximately 5 and 6.  We have wonderful memories - our son loved sitting on Uncle Louis lap and run his little hands over his very bald head - and Uncle Louis looked content.  A few years later they moved to California to be close to Louis. It was after Louis' parent passed when Lou called to say he was coming to Illinois for a reunion.  They stayed with us a short time and we became close and enjoyed one another's company. Louis and Jane spent time with us in our lake house in Wonder Lake several times and enjoyed each time.  Louis has been on our minds since he called to inform us of Jane's passing.   I tried calling him today 6/15/2015 and found the line no longer in use. I went to the computer to see if I could fine out what happened, I was shocked to hear of his passing. God be with him.  Hope all is well with his children, I know there is a place in heaven for Him, he was a very caring person.   It was our great pleasure to have him and Jane in our lives, no matter how short!!

Time and distance has never diminished the friendship we formed over seventy years ago.  You have a special place in my heart.  You, Jane, Bob and I shared many happy times.  I will treasure the memories.

My wife and I were next-door neighbors of Lou and Jane in 1996-2005.  They were like grandparents to our kids.  Wonderful people; they will be missed.

So sorry to hear about this.   I was one of his students in the late 70s.   He really impacted who I am and what I ended up doing for my education and job.

Lou was a friend and mentor for almost sixty years. He influenced several generations of students and will be greatly missed.
