Martha was born on January 10, 1936, in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Martha passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2026, surrounded by the love and presence of her family and loved ones.
From a very young age, Martha learned the meaning of strength, sacrifice, perseverance, and love for family. After losing her father at a young age, she helped her mother care for her six siblings. At just 16 years old, Martha began working to help support her family, taking on responsibilities far beyond her years.
On June 7, 1959, Martha married the love of her life, Carlos Hernandez. Together, they shared 59 years of marriage, building a life and a family filled with love, dedication, and countless memories.
Martha's journey was one of courage and determination. She eventually left her home in Mexico and took a leap of faith, coming to the United States in hopes of creating a better life and greater opportunities for her family. Through hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved, Martha succeeded in building the life she had dreamed of.
While working and caring for her family, Martha became a proud United States citizen and accomplished what represented the American dream to her: becoming a homeowner and creating a home where her family could grow and thrive. She built her life with her own hands, never losing sight of the people she was working so hard to provide for. Her accomplishments were a reflection of her love and dedication to her family.
She was a seamstress by trade, making all her daughter's their wedding dresses as well as her own. She loved gardening, reading & cooking. She was an excellent cook.
Martha's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life was centered around the people she loved. She is survived by her six children, Martha, Juan, George, Alex, Monica, and Veronica; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory and the love she gave them in their hearts.
Martha will be remembered for the incredible strength she showed throughout her life, the sacrifices she made for her family, and the courage it took to leave her homeland and begin anew in a different country. From a young girl working at the age of 16 to help her family, to a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and proud homeowner, Martha created a legacy that reaches far beyond what she accomplished for herself.
Her greatest legacy is the family she leaves behind and the values she instilled in them: hard work, perseverance, courage, sacrifice, and above all, love.
Though she will be deeply missed, Martha's love and memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
