Myrtle R. Owens, a 65-year resident of Fontana, passed away September 16, 2011 in San Diego, California. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Daren L. Owens, also a long-time resident of Fontana. She is survived by three children: Joellen Collins and Jeanne Thomson, both of San Diego and Jim Owens of Redlands. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 2 step great-grandchildren as well as a sister-in-law, Edna Carlson of Pinon Hills, CA and a brother-in-law, Tom Rabone of Fontana. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Mrs. Owens was very active as a volunteer in Fontana activities that involved her children including 10+ with the PTA, approximately 4 years with Girls Softball, about 8 years in the Girl Scouts and another 20 or so years with the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was a lifetime member of both the Order of Eastern Star and the Girls Scouts, for whom she worked for many years.
Services will be held to honor her memory on October 14 at 10:30 am at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, CA.
