Paul was born in Drake Arizona and spent many years living on the Santa Fe Rail Road housing units, as his father was the Railway Foreman. He went to work for Santa Fe at a young age of 16 years old. Paul attended high school in Needles, Ca where he played sports. Paul moved to Oxnard, Ca. and onto Fontana Ca. where he met Annie Peraza and started a family. The two met while working at the Swiftin Company in Fontana, CA. They were married and found a home in Fontana, CA. where they raised their family of five boys.
Paul was challenged with many jobs before settling on a career and retiring from the Laborer’s International Union as a Bricktender.
In his prior years, he worked as a crane operator and powder monkey out at Snow-Top Rock Quarry, which is now a beautiful Golf Course called the “The Rock”. He moved on as a Fontana Reserve Officer for 4 years. It was during this time that he was asked to work on a construction site at Kaiser Steel, refurbishing the brick furnaces. Paul also spent close to ten years working construction pipeline in the storm drain and sewer industry. The money and hours were great and it was the construction career, he chose. Paul retired from the Laborer’s International Union after 27 years of service in the mid-nineties. Paul stayed retired for 18 plus years.
During his retirement, he was known as the “Scratcher King” as there was not one Lottery Ticket that he never purchased! His interest included attending sporting events for the grand kids, family, attending soccer games for the grandchildren. Playing his guitar and singing in his later years. He loved going to the Casino’s and even made his last trip on his 88th birthday, prior to his death.
Paul was preceded in death by his beautiful loving wife of 63 years Annie.
Paul is survived by one brother Edward (Eddie) Garcia of Corona, Ca.
Five sons. Ronald P. Garcia, (wife-Corrine), Pedro P. Garcia (wife-Susie), David R. Garcia, Paul M. Garcia (wife-Diana), Christopher A. Garcia (wife-Yvette). Paul is also survived by twelve grand-children and twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He will be truly missed by all, especially his family.
