Robert William McClellan Sr.

Robert W. McClellan, Sr., P.A., (aka Babyson, Bob Willie, and Scrappy) was born to Sebastian L. and Evia McClellan in Dekalb, Texas on February 4, 1929. Robert was the 5th of 14 children; 8 boys, 5 girls, and one cousin. In 1943, the family relocated to Terrell, Texas where Robert attended Elmore and Burnett High Schools. He left school in the 11th grade and later received his GED from Burnett High School while serving in the United States Air Force (USAF).

Robert joined the Air Force in 1948 and was stationed at Beale, George, Lackland, March Filed, McClellan, Northon, San Antonio, Vandenberg, McCord, and Victorville. He completed tours in Germany, Japan, Turkey, Greenland, and England. He was a Corpsman (Medic) and served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring December 31, 1968, he was recruited to attend a newly developed Physician’s Assistant (PA) program at UCLA Charles Drew Medical School. He graduated from the 1st class of PAs in California and worked from 1972-2003. He completed his PA internship with Dr. Beck at San Bernadino County Hospital in addition to practicing at Adam & Western Hospital, Washington Medical Clinic, & Florence & Western Medical Clinic.

Robert loved sports, playing semi-pro basketball and considered an offer by the L.A. Dodgers. As a caring, loving, and compassionate person, Robert had a very successful life. He was a leader who always saw and believed the best about everyone. He was generous to a fault, always, putting others before himself. He was well-liked by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Robert & Belvin Ann were united in marriage on November 3, 1990. He had three children from a prior marriage: Brenda J. (deceased), Sheila R., and Robert Jr.. Robert also has four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Great-grandparents: Harry & Mary (Dunlap)McClellan; Rufus & Sarah Pilot; Jas & Mary Walker; Frank & Sophie (Lewis) Wyatt and Great-Great grandmother Pennie Lewis. Daughter Brenda McClellan. Brothers: Sebastian Madison; Alonzo Benjamin; Ocia Londell; Harold Lynn; Theopolis Clay & Idolphus Fredell McClellan. Sisters: Leo Evelyn Spratt; Ardalia Doris McClellan; Ocleta Geleta Keel; & Doretha Maria James. Brother-in-laws: David Keel; Richard Benjamin James; & Morris Washington, Jr.. Sister-in-laws: Dale Hodges & Virginia McClellan.

Remaining to cherish his memory and celebrate his home going are his wife Belvin Ann Thomas McClellan; children: Sheila R. Steib (James), Colorado Springs, CO; Robert William McClellan, Jr., San Bernardino, CA. Grand Children: Blair Keivon Elliott, San Bernardino, CA; Robert William McClellan, III, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; Destinee Robinette McClellan, Newark, CA; Kateri LeJeune McClellan, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. Great Granddaughter: Natalia Candace Elliott, San Bernardino, CA. Siblings: Darnell Oquin McClellan (Leatrice), Bloomington, CA & Evelyn Versell Washington, Fontana, CA.
