Born on March 1, 1960, in Paraguay,
Walter came to the United States with his family when he was just two years old. He grew up with a deep patriotism and was immensely proud to be an American.
From a young age, Walter possessed a strong work ethic and a devoted heart. He took on various jobs early in life to help supplement his mother’s income. His profound love and dedication to his mother shone brightest when he took employment at the care facility where she resided, simply so he could look after her while working. It was this extraordinary selflessness that showed his character as a man who cared deeply for those he loved.
After his mother’s passing, Walter lived with his brother Mike and his family. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces—Roseanna, Michelle, and Nadia—who cherished their "Uncle Wally" so much that they created schedules just to decide who got to spend time with him.
Walter later built a rewarding career in the accounting department at the California Correctional Facility in Calipatria, where he also proudly purchased his first home. It was during his time at the facility that he met his wife. Following the passing of her late husband, Bill, Walter went out of his way to offer steady support and kindness. Over time, their bond grew into a deep, faith-guided love. Though she hesitated at first out of fear of heartbreak, God kept leading her back to Walter—a man who spent his life taking care of everyone else, and who truly deserved to be cared for in return.
A passionate sports fan, Walter was an avid enthusiast of Formula 1 racing. He thought nothing of waking up at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings to watch races live, as recording them was simply not an option. When Formula 1 wasn't on, he enthusiastically followed IndyCar and NASCAR.
Walter lived in Riverside, California, and leaves behind a legacy of devotion, generosity, and quiet strength. While he is dearly missed and hearts are heavy with his loss, his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace. He will be loved and remembered always.
