

Arthur was born February 3, 1918, in Lee Center, IL, the son of Arthur Lee and Eva Gabbert Alsman. He married Mattie Smiley on June 21, 1940, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2012.
Surviving are their children; Fritzie (Gary) Schoonover; Don (Linda) Alsman, both of Bloomington; Al (Sandy) Alsman, Normal; and Patty (Jim) Keeran of Racine, WI; nine grandchildren, Jill (Chris) Harris; Geoff (Julia) Schoonover; Matt (Tracy) Alsman; Brent (Anastasia) Alsman; Deanne (Jeff) Colledge; Mike (Becky)Keeran; Jennifer (Jon) Hartz; Ryan (Kaitie) Alsman; and Joshua Alsman; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren; a sister, Dorothy Rush of CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Dean, Kenneth, Donald, and Glen; four sisters, Viola, Irene, Bernice, and Hazel.
Bud served in the United States Marines during WWII. He worked at American Foundary for a short time after discharge. He later worked at Eureka Company for over 40 years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. Bud enjoyed 20 winters in Florida with his wife of 72 years, Mattie. He was a lifelong Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bloomington Lion’s Club or Illinois Cancer Care.
