Barbara Jean Koss

September 13, 1936April 27, 2021

Barbara Jean Koss, 84, of Normal IL passed away on April 27, 2021. She was born September 13, 1936 to Myer and Jessie Wilma (Hitesman) Blank in Los Angeles CA.

Barbara is survived by her children: David (Lori) Koss of Medford OR, Maria (Matthew) Hagglund of Normal, IL, Isaac Koss of Minneapolis MN, Elisabeth (Gregory) Rodriguez of Long Beach CA. Sisters: Beverly Gagon of Syracuse UT, Bonnie Hart of El Monte CA; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Myer Blank, Jessie Wilma Blank; and her nephews Marc William Moreland, Robert James Goodwin.

‘I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith’ II Timothy 4:7

Barbara was a devout Christian and had a deep, personal connection to her savior. She never went a day without reading her scripture and spending time in prayer. Aside from single-handedly raising her four children, Barbara enjoyed giving to those in need and being a blessing to those around her. She devoted much of her life to outreach and missionary work.

Barbara had a big bright smile, infectious to those around her; kind, caring heart and gentle hand. Our world is dimmer without her in it.

A memorial service is planned to be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adventist Development and Relief Agency International https://donations.adra.org/

So sorry for the loss of your mom. I had the pleasure of meeting her August of 2018 when I drove her to some physical therapy appointments. I am a volunteer driver for Faith in Action and when I picked her up the very 1st time, you would have thought we were friends forever! She's such a sweet lady and said to me "I wish I could have you all the time ." I did try and get as many rides for her as I could. In helping her she helped me, really brightened my day. May it bring a comfort and peace knowing that you are being prayed for during this difficult time.

Barbara was an amazing person, always filling everyone with courage to look at the positive side of life. She went through much pain, but her smile was infectious. She must have been an incredible mom as it showed in the close relationship with her children. Her son Isaac had a huge positive impact on my teen years and to a large degree that is a tribute to her influence in his life. Thank you Isaac and Barbara! Isaac, I miss you buddy. Hang in there. Please reach out if I can do anything for you or your family! Love you all.

Barbara was so sweet and was always kind. When she lived at Hill Top back when I was 10, I'd go up and talk with her and doris and we'd go on walks.
