He was born on September 29, 1946, to Lavern and Mary Jean Nehrt. Chuck married the love of his life, Janis Rine, on December 21, 1968, and together they shared a life full of love. Charles resided in Bloomington, Illinois.
A devoted man in the ways that matter most, Chuck gave of himself steadily through his work, his service, and his faith. He was a hard worker. He retired from Illinois State University in 2007 after years of dependable dedication. He was also a proud United States Air Force Veteran and a member of the American Legion, carrying forward a deep respect for duty and community. His faith was important to him, and he was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Janis Nehrt; his daughter Nicole (Chris) Chizmar; grandsons, Will Marvel, Zach Marvel, and Jonathan Chizmar; a host of family and friends. Chuck will be missed by all who love him.
He was preceded in death by parents and infant daughter.

Visitation will be held July 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Normal First United Methodist, 211 N. School St., Normal, IL 61761. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00am.
