

Born February 12, 1960, she was a daughter to Jeanne Gorden-Mathis and the late Lester Franklin Mathis. Dana was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Graphic Design. On March 18, 1989 she married Peter Maughan. Dana was a member of the First United Church of Gridley and the Bloomington Quilting Guild. She will be remembered as a woman of strong faith during her illness, and always wanting to help others. Dana loved quilting and was an excellent seamstress. She will be extremely missed, especially during game night, which was her favorite pass time with her family.
Survivors include her husband Peter Maughan of Towanda; mother Jeanne Mathis of Monticello; 2 children: Meredith Maughan of Bloomington and Logan Maughan of Towanda; one brother Rob (Amy) Mathis of Dallas, TX; three sisters: Gayle (Greg) Hornaday of Henderson, NV, Leslie (Bill) Sheets of Monticello and Lee Elena (Jim) Stockton of Houston, TX, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Dana was preceded in death by her father Lester Mathis, and Great-Grandmother Lucille Gorden.
Visitation will be held Wednesday March 12, 2014 between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1002 Airport Road Bloomington, IL 61704. Funeral services will be Thursday March 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Andy Huette of The First United Church of Gridley will officiate. Burial will follow in East lawn Cemetery in Bloomington.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dana’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
