

He was born on December 4, 1961, in Normal, IL, son of Raymond and Glenna Howard Richard. He married Mary Beth Otto on December 23, 2006. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Bridgette (Jonathan) Wycoff of Bloomington and Nicholas (Ashley) Richard of Hudson; three step-children, Jyles Evans of Texas, Joseph Evans of South Carolina and Joel (Kerry) Stephens of Illinois; two grandchildren, Clara Richard, Veronica Wycoff; two step-grandchildren, Parker Evans and Jeremiah Smith. Dan also leaves behind three brothers, Phil (Shelly) Richard, Randy (Peggy) Richard and Mike (Kay) Richard; one sister, Gina Roberds and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Dean Otto; brother-in-law, Danny Roberds and sister-in-law, Maureen Otto.
Dan graduated from Lexington High School in 1980, where he was active in FFA and 4-H Clubs.
He was very involved with the agricultural community in the Towanda area. Dan spent most of his career trucking, first with JB Lee Transportation and later with K.M.R. Trucking. He also enjoyed farming with his brothers throughout his life.
Dan liked playing cards, tinkering, working on puzzles and enjoyed finding "cool gadgets." He had a love for animals, especially his "rovers" (aka dogs), Oscar, Stitch, Gracie, Max, Sparky and Tilly. Dan also had a scuba diving license and proud to have had the chance to dive in the Cayman Islands.
He always had a story to tell and could talk for hours about anything and everything. Dan had many nicknames; Daniel, Dan, Runt, Trucker Dan and Dad, but his favorite title was "Grandpa Grinch." He loved his grandkids and always found a way to spoil them.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Lexington Community Center, Lexington, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL.
