Darren Carti'er Edmondson

July 17, 1986January 8, 2020

Darren Carti’er Edmonson, 33, received his wings on January 8, 2020. He was born July 17, 1986 in Chicago, IL, the youngest son of Schuyler L. Edmondson (Long) and Derrick Glenn Edmondson, Sr. both of Chicago. He attended Thornridge High School in Dolton, IL and eventually went on to complete his GED. As a child, Darren was fun, loving, and filterless. He was an intelligent child who could talk you under the table and give you a run for your money! As a young adult, Darren came to face many challenges. While he struggled to figure out life, he never wanted to be defined only by his mistakes. He developed a passion for the art of food and could cook with the best of them! He was enrolled to begin culinary arts school in Chicago at Inspirations Kitchens on January 9, 2020. Darren was a son, a brother, a loving uncle, cousin, and friend to all who knew him. Darren leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother Schuyler L. Edmondson (Long) and father Derrick Glenn Edmondson, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Ernestine Edmondson; three siblings: Derrick Glenn Edmondson, Jr., Shanelle Holland (Edmondson) and Mallory Edmondson; three nieces: Kori Holland, Massiah Edmondson, and Rosalie Edmondson; four nephews: Derrick Glenn Edmondson, III, Kyson Shipp, Antonio Edmondson, and Micah Edmondson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long friends.

Darren resided with me in (his cousin-Latrice) in Atlanta, Ga for awhile. Nevertheless, Darren, My oldest daughter and my Son took my car out for a cruise without my permission. I was soooo mad at all 3 of them. When they brought my car back, I told them Neveeerrrr... Darren was laughing so hard lol ( he never seen me that mad). Darren, My oldest daughter, and my Son didn't take me serious because 2 days later, they were driving my car again. Darren was like a son to me. He called me Auntie "Trice". I love you cousin Darren and will see you again!

Darren the last talk we had i expressed a lot to you. I cried on the train looking crazy because you made me laugh right after. You hugged me and told me everything was gone be good. You said even tho we’re cousins you look at me like a little big sister πŸ˜” To think i was going to keep going home without meeting you that day would have killed me because before that i can’t remember the last time i seen you. Your now doing something I’m not and I’m kind of jealous lol your up there with maw maw and granddaddy. How is that? I love you cousin thank you for the laughs. Thank you for making me feel loved. Thank you for wanting to be my protector. Hell thank you for that last $9 you had in your pocket that day. Forever loving you !!

Baby Bro I don't even know where to begin. I love you more than words could ever explain. Through our ups and downs we always managed to tell each other so. You had the craziest of ways of showing it. "LoL Broskiiiiiii"! Boy that was your line. You worked my last nerve, but you made me laugh through it all. I am very thankful for the 33 years you allowed me to spend with you. You'll always be in my heart as a part of me. Darren you're now at peace. Watch over mommy, dad, your nieces, nephews, sisters and I. Love Always and forever Petey

Baby Bro,
Where do I begin? You said I was like your second mom, and that I got on your nerves because I always told you what to do lol. No matter how much we argued and fought, every text message and conversation ended with the affirmation β€œI love you”...and I promise I always will!

Darren and I lived on the same block as kids and graduated from Bennett together. So one day I was playing in my front yard...I think I was about 6 or 7....well Darren and a group of boys were walking up....I took one look at them and ran in the house. My mom yelled at me "girl what are you running for you like him or something". I said "no mommy I'm just scared".... Don't know why but as I got to know Darren more we became good friends. I remember his disrupting music class because he didn't want to sing...Ms Burnett was not having that. πŸ˜…

I'm going to miss my friend. I hate that I can't make the service but I will continue to remember the good times and hold Darren's memory in my heart forever. I will not remember his death but I will celebrate his life instead. Because to be absent from the body is to be present with our Lord. And that is the ultimate goal! Praying for Shanelle, Derrick and the entire family. Love you guys! I πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½πŸ™πŸ½
