Recently came across these photos of Dave at my parents house when I was visiting from CA.

Just a reminder to anyone who may be interested in stopping by tomorrow, a memorial life celebration for my brother David Shelley, will be held at Church of Christ, Uniting, 108 N Pine Street Lexington, IL - Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1-3 p.m.
This will not be a funeral. Dave would have crashed such a sad event and turned it into a music fest or something. Come with a memory to share and enjoy some company.
In lieu of flowers, memorials for Dave may be sent to the Lexington, IL Public Library, 207 S. Cedar St., Lexington, IL 61753, Attn: Tonya.

This is for Martha, who I have not seen in many years. Martha, I was sorry to see Dave passed away. I thought it was great that he is pictured with a snake. He always loved critters. I remember when he came back from Arizona (where I now live) with a scorpion! I met Dave back in 1965 at Fairchild Hall (Thomas Metcalf grade school) when I was in physical therapy for my leg. He was a pretty interesting guy, that's for sure! Condolences also to the rest of his family.

My heartfelt sympathies to Martha, Kim, and the Shelley family on Dave's passing. It's very sad to learn he's no longer with us. 
Let it be said there was never a dull moment with Dave. R.I.P. amigo. We shared a lot of good times.

To the extended Shelley family and particularly Kim and Martha my sincere sympathies and condolences.  So sad to hear of my old friends passing.  He was such a unique individual and good friend. So many memories of some of our wild and fun times together back in Lexington!  We still kept in touch over the years, often via a late night call from Dave where we would just pick up right where we left of on the last call.  So many great memories.  He will surely be missed.  God bless Dave Shelley.

I remember David talking about hiscollection war memorbilia with my father and brother.  His mind fascinated me. Can't say I ever connected to the reptilian love, but, now have a step-son and grandson who love them.  In a way, David paved the way for my being open to it.  I remember his sense of humor and his smile. My condolences to his family and friends as you grieve. I wish you many kindnesses as you celebrate his life.

I am sorry to hear of David's passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Martha, Pat, Alyssa and Nathan, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.  I will always remember Dave and his family and the time I spent out at the house visiting.  He will be missed and remembered by many.  May God bless your family in your hour of need.
