Dennis Fred Hellweg

Dennis was born January 13, 1939 in St. Louis to where he lived with his parents Carl and Helen Knoernschild Hellweg until 1997; they preceded him in death. At that time he came to Normal to live with his sister, Dolores Hellweg; she survives. Also surviving are a brother, Lee (Helen) Hellweg, Rodgers, AR.

Bron with an inquisitive mind, Dennis was excited by the NASA space program, loved all kinds of animals, raised racing pigeons and box turtles and developed an educational video about the Monarch butterfly. He was a collector of all kinds of things and loved music.

Dennis was a loved uncle, great uncle, and great-great uncle. He was a brave warrior in his battle with Parkinson’s disease. His smile was special. Thanks must be given to his wonderful caregivers, Mary Baize, Joyce Adams, Lori Bradley, Susan Crowe, and Kaye Lynn McClain.

Memorial services for Dennis will be held at 2:30pm Sunday, April 7, 2013 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be a half hour prior at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
