
Don was born Jan. 1, 1925 in Bloomington to Albert and Della (Harris) Myers. He married Suzanne M. Szabados Feb. 16, 1946 in Bloomington. She passed away Aug. 16, 2002 in Tucson, AZ. He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters: Donna Kerfoot of Bloomington, Tina (Tony) Kramer of Decatur, two grandchildren: Dana Rettig of Rockford, Aric Lee of Decatur, three great-grandchildren: Trent Pyles, Montana Rettig, Van Rettig, one sister, Darlene McClain of Texas, and one special friend, Tillie Schafley of Decatur.
Don was a WWII Navy Veteran. He worked for F.W. Means in Bloomington retiring in the early 1980’s.
Don was a lifetime VFW member, and a longtime member of the American Hungarian Society. He loved dancing and listening to music. He was an avid golfer, billiard player, and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.
Don was very proud of the fact he earned his GED when he was in his 40’s.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bloomington at a later date. East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.
