He was born July 21, 1930 in Harrisburg, PA to William and Margaret (Hudson) Schweinberg. He married Doris Jane Hall March 15, 1952 in Crown Pointe, IN. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons Edward H. Schweinberg of Peoria, Ron (Bev) Schweinberg of Bloomington, two daughters Barb (Steve) McClarty of Gallatin, TN, Carol (Bob) Burger of Normal, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Ed worked at the Pontiac Correctional Center as Director of Education. He was also Assistant Superintendent of Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home. He was an army veteran of the Korean War.
Big Ed was known for his love of people and sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at his lake home. His other happy place was spending winters on the Gulf Coast. Ed and Jane were their grandchildren's greatest fans, never missing a sporting, music, or extracurricular activity. He was a devoted Bears and White Sox fan and an avid golfer.
Cremation rites have been accorded. East Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
There will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life for family members will be held at a later date.
