Eleanor "Ellie" L. Shelton

She was born March 17, 1938 in Dwight IL, daughter of Clarence Nelson and Ellen (Critser) Nelson. She married Robert Shelton October 17, 1958 and resided at Lake Bloomington IL over 30 years. He preceded her in death April 5, 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Vicki McCullough of Columbia, MO and Jinna (Hank) Nelson of Danvers, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Alyson (Paul) Metzdorff, Brigid (Josh) Townsend, Denise (Josh) O’Neal, Crystal Nelson-Lindsey, Abbey McCullough and eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

After graduating from Dwight Township High School in 1956 she was employed by State Farm Insurance Co. Bloomington IL. She left State Farm to raise her family then returned to work until retiring in 2000 as an administrative assistant.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends doing activities she loved such as camping, traveling, playing cards, shopping and gardening.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 5, 2026 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL, where visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the service at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, IL.
