

He was born on May 3, 1924 in Bloomington, IL, son of Albert G. and Ethel Pearl Smith Jones. He married Olive P. Douglas on October 15, 1950 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife of Bloomington; two daughters, Susan (Ric) Kingsfield of Geneva and Peggy (Dennis) Hutson of Normal; four grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Long and Matthew (Natalie) Long, both of the Chicago area, Katie (Nathan) Hargan and Thomie Hutson, both of Normal and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gregory Martin Jones.
Ernie was a United States Army Veteran, inducted in 1943 and honorably discharged as a tech sergeant in 1946.
He worked as a the owner and operator of E.M. Jones Business Forms, retiring in 1989 and later owned and operated Assorted Business Forms, retiring in 2007.
Ernie was also a member of the Bloomington Masonic Lodge, past president of the Bloomington Shrine Club, a member of the Peoria Mohammad Temple Shrine and a 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge.
He loved reading and enjoyed history. He was very knowledgeable of past Presidents. Ernie volunteered as a tour guide at the Davis Davis Mansion. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, Olive, traveling extensively and playing cards.
Ernie will be remembered by his family as a family man with a fun loving sense of humor.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at East Lawn Funeral home, where visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Cremation rites have been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL.
