Evea Darlene Higgins

She was born October 24, 1931 in Beecher City, IL, the daughter of William E. and Kathryn (Richards) Miller. She graduated from Cowden High School in the class of 1949 and later graduated from Decatur Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse in 1952. She married Robert Higgins in 1976, he preceded her in death in 1994.

Evea retired from a life of nursing in 1996 and relocated to Arizona for 25 years. She moved back to Illinois in 2021.

She was a member of the Beecher City Church of Christ, where she attended faithfully.

Her whole life she demonstrated kindness and a loving spirit to all. You were always greeted with a smile. She was so appreciative of any kindness and help from others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne; sister, Imogene; step-granddaughter, Marissa and step son, Barry.

She is survived by brothers, Samuel Ernest Miller and wife Evelyn of Plainfield, IN, Charles Miller and wife Paulette of Beecher City, IL, Duane Miller and wife Margaret of Brewton AL; sister, Lois and husband Joe Putnam of Franklin, IN; step son, Brian Higgins and wife April and their daughter, Crystal all of San Diego CA; step son, Robert Higgins and friend Yolanda of Hickory Hills IL; several nieces and nephews, and her adoptive family, Daniel, Rebecca, Leticia, Alicia and Willow Alvarado.

Evea will be remembered with a memorial service at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Beecher City Church of Christ. East Lawn Funeral Home is assisting with cremation arrangements.
