Floyd Elvin Dodson, 86, passed away October 8, 2018 at LeRoy Liberty Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was born September 13, 1932 in Lexington. He married Kathryn L. Murrell on August 9, 1949.
They have raised seven children: Franklin (Nelda) Dodson, Lexington; Michael (Brenda) Dodson, Pana; Jeanette Cole, Shirley; David (Debbie) Dodson, Bloomington; Jack (Lucy) Dodson, LeRoy; Joyce Green, Jacksonville, FL; Linda (Ben) Taylor, Normal; He has one sister, Ruby Carstens, Wichita, Kansas; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn L. (Dodson); two grandchildren, Terry Lee Cole, Jr and Joey Garrett; a son-in-law, Terry Cole Sr.; his parents, Andrew and Zula Dodson; ten sisters, four brothers.
Floyd has farmed his whole life. The joy was all of his children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Village of LeRoy Alzheimer's unit or LeRoy Fire and Ambulance Department.
