He was born on June 6, 1956, in Germany, son of James and Ruth Coon Hafley, they have preceded him in death.
He married Catherine A. Raffety on June 25, 1988 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy of Bloomington; seven siblings, Rose (Jim) Vandyke of Delavan, Wayne Hafley of Fairbury, Sylvia (Ross) Kindelberger of Arizona, John (Suzanne) Hafley of Florida, Marilyn (Kevin) Moody of Mackinaw, Dosia (Eric) Schrepfer of Germantown Hills and Carolyn Hafley of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.
George was a man of God who loved and worshipped Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. His Faith was an important part of who he was and he carried that Faith with him throughout his life. He trusted in God's love and grace and found comfort in knowing that his eternal home was with his Lord and Savior. His kindness knew no bounds and he had a heart of gold. To know him was to experience his warmth, generosity, companionship and genuine love for others. He had a special way of making people feel welcomed, valued and cared for, and his presence brought comfort and joy to so many.
He found happiness in the simple moments that made life meaningful. He loved baking, creating beautiful diamond paints, woodwork, gathering loved ones for game nights, enjoying date nights with his wife and spending quality time with people he loved. He especially cherished his many fur babies over the years, who were not simply pets, but family. His greatest joy was being surrounded by the people and animals who filled his heart with love.
His memory will forever live in the hearts of his loving wife, Cathy, his two brothers, five sisters and extended family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Though his time with us did not seem long enough, the love he gave, the kindness he showed and the faith he shared and the memories he created will remain with us forever.
Until we meet again in Heaven, you will forever be loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts.
His memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Christian Faith Center, 502 W.
