Gladys Marie Carmack

She was born on June 12, 1942 in Chicago, daughter of Francis "Frank" Michael and Gladys Marie Peffinger Curtin.

Surviving are son, John (Kelli) Carmack of Bloomington; daughter, Shawn (Kelly) Gordon of Normal; grandchildren, Trevor Carmack and Sydney (Trevor) Perring, both of Bloomington and Kaleb (Brynn) Gordon of Normal and one great-grandchild, Sloane Perring of Bloomington.

Gladys was preceded in death by a grandson, Torin Carmack; maternal grandparents, Mamo & Pama Paw and parents, Frank and Gladys Curtin.

Gladys will be remembered for her kind heart, generosity, as well as the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Gladys' favorite place to be was at the beach. Her family was so fortunate for all the vacations and shelling together. She loved spending time with family and friends and collecting art.

Gladys was very involved in the community. She was honored by Soroptimist International of Bloomington-Normal, a board member of Kiwanis and chairman of the Boys and Girls Club committee, where she worked on projects for underprivileged children. She served on the fundraising committee for Marc Center and the local and regional Boy Scouts, volunteer at the Humane Society, the American Heart Association, the United Way and Relay For Life. She served on the YMCA's Women of Distinction Committee and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

As a member of the the Chamber of Commerce, she served as president of the Central Illinois Marketing Society and a proud member of the local GOP. She was an insurance agent with Clemens and Associates for 32 years. She enjoyed helping clients with their insurance and anything else they needed.

She was an amazing mom, mamo and mew. She was a blessing whose love will never be forgotten.

A private graveside service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. East Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
