She was born May 30, 1923 in Saybrook, Illinois to Harry Earl and Elsie Pearl (Kingsley) Campbell. On April 23, 1945 she married Jesse L. Knackstedt in Springfield, Illinois.
Gwenlyn enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cooking.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law Evelyn Knackstedt of Bloomington; grandchildren: Angela Knackstedt of Bloomington, Manuela Knackstedt of Bloomington, Richard (Karen) Knackstedt of Bloomington and Rocky Knackstedt of Bloomington; great-grandchildren: Sierra, Jessica, Ana, and Marco; step-great-granchildren: Kacey and Taylor; siblings: Catherine Bays of Bloomington, John (Dolly) Campbell of Bloomington and Harry Campbell of Little Rock, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Jesse L. Knackstedt on November 4, 1986; son Jesse G. Knackstedt; sister: Jean Embry; brothers: Leslie Campbell and James Campbell.
Visitation will be from 12noon until the 1pm service Wednesday October 23, 2013 at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd. Bloomington, IL 61704. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
