Harold E. “Pappy” Dunlap, 94, of Downs, passed away at 10:09 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Leroy Manor in Leroy, IL.
He was born February 11, 1917 in Saybrook, IL, son of Minnie Dunlap. He married Lulu E. Bradford on June 14, 1939 in Bloomington. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Sherrillyn West of Bloomington, Joyce Niklaus of Leroy; two sons, Randy Dunlap of Downs and Marc (Peggy) Dunlap of Tremont. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Eric & Michael West, Stephanie Lewis, Elizabeth Varnado, Jennifer Toney, Nathan Hamblin, Nicole Cattaneo, Mallory Dunlap, Heather & Bradford Dunlap and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pappy was a member of the Civil Conservation Corps during WWII. He worked as a farmhand for Adams Farms in rural Bloomington, retiring in 1982.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
