Harold Ford

Harold Lee Ford, 88, of Normal passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL, surrounded by family. He was born March 13, 1935, in Hillview, IL, to George Ford and Georgia Farmer Ford. He married Phyllis Anne Schertz in Springfield, IL, on February 18, 1956. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2022.

Harold grew up in Hillview, IL. After graduating from high school, he attended Illinois State University. He graduated with a degree in Agriculture. He was employed by the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and then Illinois Agriculture Association. He retired in 1993.

Harold lived for his family. He was always available at a moments notice to lend a helping hand. Even after retirement from Agriculture, he could not pull away from his love of farming. He helped local farmers with the planting and harvesting of their crops. He also enjoyed travel, camping, bike riding, boating and Cardinal Baseball games. But most of all, just spending time with family.

Surviving are his children Kathy (Gary) Schoolman, Susan (Eric) Johnson, Mike (Marian) Ford and Mark (Deanna) Ford; Grandchildren Ryan Schoolman, Rachel (Kyle) Miller, Grant Johnson, Katie Ford, and Lucas Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters a son-in-law and Grandson.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery, County Road 1050 North, El Paso, IL 61738.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Illinois at 605 E. Willow St, Normal, IL 61761.
