Irma Elizabeth McDonald, 91, longtime resident of Fairbury and Bloomington, IL, died at 2:30 a.m. on May 9, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, IL. She was born Irmgard Elizabeth Freytag on April 29, 1923 in Chicago, IL, to George and Irmgard (Bernheier) Freytag. She married John Robert McDonald on June 26, 1943 in Cuero, TX. Aside from raising her children, Irma was very active in her community and volunteered in various organizations. Irma enjoyed travel, physical fitness, nutrition, and had a passion for Tournament Bridge. Her mother, father, and two half-brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Freytag Woods, Munster, IN; 6 children; Patricia Davis, Mesa, AZ; John McDonald (Maria), Pozzuoli, Italy; Barbara Sweeny (Mark), Hendersonville, NC; Robert McDonald (Joan), Hudson, IL; Laura McMinn, Fairbury, IL; Annette Jones (Shawn), Champaign, IL., 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
