James "Jim" H. Thomas Jr, 67, of Bloomington passed away on May 23, 2021 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born on September 12, 1953 to James Harvey Sr and Caroline Jane (Gundling) Thomas and married the love of his life, Karen Hume on May 29, 1993 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington, IL.
Jim is survived by his wife: Karen; children: his son Chuck Thomas, stepdaughter Hannah Emerson; siblings: Bill (Cindy) Thomas of Normal, IL, Bob (Tenna) Thomas of Bradenton, FL; grandchildren: Izumi Thomas, Tom Hall; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in passing by his parents.
Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran church who graduated with the class of 1971 from Woodruff High School in Peoria. He attended ISU and received an associate's degree from Heartland Community College, going on to work for Trinity Structural Towers as a paint inspector. When he wasn't busy at work, Jim enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, cycling, and rooting for his favorite teams: the St Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears. He was very thankful for the many cards, phone calls, and well wishes he received during his illness as well as the care that he received from his doctors and nurses.
Cremation rites have been accorded with East Lawn Funeral Home.
