Joann C. Steinberg

She was born on July 21, 1945 in Fairbury, NE, daughter of Erwin D and Ida Werner Goodson. She married Richard "Dick" A. Steinberg on July 10, 1965 in Reynolds, NE.

Surviving are her husband, Dick, Normal; two children, Sarah (Andrew Beacom) Steinberg-Beacom, Holly Springs, GA and Wade (Carrie) Steinberg, Land O Lakes, FL and one grandson, Garrett Steinberg, Land O Lakes, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lloyd (Susan) Goodson.

She was raised on a farm near Reynolds, NE, where she learned to love gardening, plants and the outdoors. She graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE and furthered her education earning a Master's Degree in Education at Illinois State University, Normal. Joann followed in her father's footsteps into teaching and first worked as a teacher for District 87 in Bloomington and later as a substitute teacher for Unit 5. She retired in 2008 from a long career with the IRS. Even after moving to Illinois, she remained a true Huskers fan.

Following retirement, Joann and Dick enjoyed travelling in their camper, touring America and Canada. Joann loved cooking and baking for her family and had an extensive collection of cookbooks.

She was a member of McLean County Home and Community Education Association, Kappa Delta Pi Sorority and a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Normal.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded, East Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
