Jolene Carroll New, 55, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on June 16, 2010 at Bloomington Rehabilitation Center in Bloomington.
She was born July 15, 1954 in Bloomington, the daughter of Joseph Paul and Jeanne Leetch Carroll. She married Clarence New, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Bloomington; two sons, Tyson (Roxanna Marlett) Carroll of Normal and Tynan New of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Samantha Carroll Marlett and Jazmine New. Also surviving are four brothers, Gary Carroll, Rick Carroll, Bruce (Tina)Carroll and Denny, Sr. (Pat) Carroll; three sisters, Candy (Buster) Funk, Misty (Rod) Phillips and Christa (Donnie) Blewett and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Jeanne Carroll; one sister, Betty Lee Sledge Higgs; two nephews and one niece.
Jolene drove a school bus for over 20 years for HeadStart and District 87 before leaving due to medical reasons. She loved to socialize with anyone she could and was an active member of the Moose Lodge in Bloomington. Nothing was more exciting to her than to carry a note to a Patsy Cline song at a Karaoke night somewhere. Jolene fought a hard battle with life for many years, but would still stop and help anyone with anything she could. Her granddaughter, Sammy Jo, was the highlight of the last four years of her life. She will be missed by many and remembered by everyone who’s lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
