Jon Robert Hamrin

Jon was born June 30, 1941, in Streator, the son of George and Marjorie (Benallack) Hamrin. He married Ruth Anne Roys on June 12, 1964 in Volga City, IA. She survives.

Also surviving are their children, Brian (Kelly) Hamrin of Bloomington; Robert (Sarah) Hamrin of Bella Vista, AR; Grant (Ria) Hamrin of Carol Stream; and Beth (Glenn) Gehrke of Manhattan, IL; nine grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jon was a 1959 graduate of Streator Township High School and graduated from the University of Dubuque in 1964. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After the Army he was an accountant at State Farm for over 30 years. He enjoyed classic car shows. He also enjoyed the outdoors. He looked forward to fishing, boating, camping and traveling. He also loved dogs, owning many throughout his life.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Private graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Streator. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Behavioral Health.
