She was born on February 7, 1936 in Bloomington, daughter of John Edward and Helen Molek. She married Charles L. Kimler in November of 1957, he preceded her in death in 1964, shortly after the birth of their fourth child.
Jo worked for many years working as a lunch lady with District 87 in Bloomington, a job that allowed her to work and also care for her children as a widowed mother. As her kids got older, she then worked as an office administrator for the Geology/Geography Department at Illinois State University, before retirement.
Surviving are four children, Dawn Carter of Normal, Lynne (Eric) Johnson of Heyworth, Cynthia Peasley of Bloomington and Bruce (Shelly) Kimler of Heyworth. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Jo's greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and attending the events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family loved her and she will be greatly missed.
