Larry William Lock, 79, of Bloomington, Illinois, passed on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 17, 1947, to Willard and Marie Wester - Lock in Lasalle, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Virginia Matuszewski, on May 20, 1978, and together they shared a life grounded in devotion, steadiness, and love.
Larry will be remembered for finding meaning in life’s quiet blessings. He enjoyed the simple things sitting outdoors and taking in the peace of nature, and settling in with a good book. Above all, Larry cherished time with his family and pets, and he held a special joy in being with his grandchildren, whose lives were brightened by his presence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry leaves behind his wife, Virginia Lock; sons, Aaron Lock, and Brian (Kelly) Lock; five grandchildren, Nellie, Graham, Ellis, Brinley, and Skylar; three siblings, James Lock, Bob (Nita) Lock, and Sally (Rich) Pyle; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mindy Louise Lock; and brothers John and Gene Lock.
Memorials may be directed to Cancer Society of Illinois in Larry’s honor.
A private family graveside service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL.
