Leroy Ambrose Neitz
Tallahassee - Leroy (Lee) A. Neitz, of Tallahassee, FL., passed away unexpectedly while visiting family in Illinois. He was born July 14, 1939, to Orville and Vera Wilson Neitz of Odell, Il. He attended St. Paul's Catholic School and graduated in 1958. A short time later he joined the Army and proudly served his country for over 22 years as an army Corps Medic, including two tours in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Army in 1981, he and his wife Dixie moved to Tallahassee to be near family, where Lee worked for many years as chief of maintenance at the Executive Suites hotel.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, his beloved wife Ila (Dixie) Hardie Neitz, step-sons Barry Kio and Jeff Kio, and granddaughter Vicki Fairbanks. Survivors include his step-daughter Jackie Fairbanks, Fayetteville, NC., step-son Jim Kio (Carol) of Tallahassee, sister Joyce Fish (William) of Bloomington Illinois, brother Don Neitz (Elizabeth), Melbourne, Fl., 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, 4 nieces, 7 nephews, and numerous cousins.
His greatest joy was time spent with the children in his life, especially two great grandsons and a great granddaughter, and one great great grandson. He also looked forward to the three days a week he played Canasta with friends from the senior center. He will be greatly missed by those who loved and cared for him.
Visitation with the family will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22nd, at Culley's MeadowWood Chapel, at 700 Timberlane Road, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
