Her funeral will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will immediately follow services at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, IL.

She was born June 1, 1929 in LeRoy, IL, daughter of Harry and Lucille Reese Cook. She married Peter Summers on August 27, 1950 in Bloomington. She was preceded her in death by her husband on July 1, 2003 and sisters, Wilma Duggins and Henrietta Garlock.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Nieces, Rita Layten and Linda Lou Garlock, and friends, Kim Brandon and Jody Nettles, helped care for her.

Lou worked for 44 years at State Farm Insurance Company, Bloomington, IL, retiring as an underwriter assistant.

She loved butterflies, liked to crochet and do plastic needle-point. Lou also enjoyed traveling, camping and spending winters in their Arkansas home with her husband Pete.

Lou was a long-time member of the Church of Christ, Normal, IL.
